A quote by american author and activist Coretta Scott King says, “the greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members”. It was so very true this Sunday as families gathered on Mothers Day to take part in the Community Planting at Heartwood Forest. From excitable toddlers to devoted grandparents, 424 planters were getting their hands dirty as as over 4,000 cherry trees were planted.
It is days like this when I’m so happy to be back in St Albans. As children gathered together to compare worms that they’d found, and couples worked together to plant their own tree – it really was a day that memories were made.
On Sunday 25th March at 1pm the final tree will be planted. This will mark 10 years of hard work and happiness at Heartwood Forest. You can find out more info here.
