Welcome to week three of Meet The Local. This week I’m lucky to have Tracey from Blissfully Organised as my guest. Blissfully Organised is a service which supports people in simplifying the management of their homes to save time, save money and reduce stress. Tracy is genuinely a fairy godmother in disguise – with a wave of a wand she can help to declutter your home or work space.
What fascinates me most about Tracey is that before she set up Blissfully Organised she was previously a marketer for 18 years working for brands such as ESPN and ITV. As someone who has worked for very similar brands, I find entrepreneurs very interesting and was keen to learn a lot more.
No two days are the same … as I am always meeting new clients with different requirements and my existing clients are at different stages of their home organisation journey. I might be helping a client prepare for a house move in the morning, then helping to reorganise a home office in the afternoon. I can respond to calls and texts on the move which offers a wonderfully mobile way of working. When you do what you love it often doesn’t feel like work.
The one thing do I love most about my job is… supporting my clients to achieve their home organisation goals. Each client and the way they live is unique. I really love understanding each client’s story and the way that they live, so that I can offer bespoke solutions to their organisational requirements. We start with a consultation and Home Organisation Audit. I then create a detailed action list and road map that we can work through together. They are usually surprised how much we can achieve in a short time and find that they enjoy it more than they thought they would.
I ended up working in my current job as… I had always wanted to set up my own business. We moved to St Albans in 2005 and I really felt at home in the city. It’s a lovely place to live as a family and I was amazed to meet so many people who had set up their own successful businesses. An 18-year Marketing career required an organised mind, a clear vision of the end goal and the ability to create order from chaos. The perfect qualities required for Blissfully Organised which I set up in 2011. I am naturally organised and as a busy working Mum I understand how chaotic life can be. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the demands on our time. Getting organised and decluttering the home/work space can help to eliminate day to day chaos.
The best piece of advice I received was be yourself and build a sustainable business. I love the fact that I have clients that I worked with 6 year ago who still come back to me as their situation changes.
My most memorable memory was being nominated for a Woo Hoo Award from the St Albans Business community in 2017, which was unexpected but so lovely. Being referred to as the St Albans Queen of Decluttering in the Herts Ad 2 years ago always makes me smile. I feel lucky that I have a business which I love. The last 7 years seemed to have flown by.
