Easter Eggstravaganza in St Albans

I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for the long Easter weekend, and it’s just around the corner. There’s some eggcelent events taking place in St Albans to ensure you have a cracking Easter – let’s just hope the rain stays away!

There’s sooo much going on this Easter in St Albans, but if you fancy seeing what else is happening in Hertfordshire then here’s a few posts from Mummysphere to help you out…

THROUGHOUT EASTER HOLIDAYS

Willows Activity Farm | Coursers Road

Until the 15th April there will be an Easter Eggstravaganza at Willows. There is lots of choc-o-bloc family fun including baby chicks and lambs. Plus Mr Tod will be taking residence at Willows with the introduction of Mr Tod’s Lair and the Super Secret Squirrel Nutkin Test. Adult £15.00, Child Ticket 2-16 yrs £17.00, Under 2’s require a ticket but are free of charge. (Cheaper tickets available online)

Pots of Art | Holywell Hill

Create your own original colourful pottery masterpiece, a fantastic ceramic impression of your babies hands and feet, build a ‘Be My Bear’, create Spin Art or be creative with Decopatch. Opening hours: Monday-Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 11am-5pm

FRIDAY 30TH

Peppa Pig’s Adventure | Alban Arena

Peppa Pig and friends are back in the brand new live show Peppa Pig’s Adventure! Adult tickets £17, Under 16’s £15. Show starts at 4pm.

Baba Gigs | Inn on the Park | St Michaels Street

Child friendly concert. Introducing babies and toddlers to music from a young age. Play, hum and sing along to classical, jazz and film music. 10.30-11.30am, Tickets £5

SATURDAY 31ST

HeronWatch | Verulamium Lake

A brilliant free activity – go down to Verulamium lake between 11:00-1:00pm to take part in #Heronwatch. The RSPB St Albans group runs HeronWatch, to show members of the public the nesting herons.

Easter Hunt at Wick Wood | Wick Wood | Marshals Drive

From toddlers to early teens, collect tokens scattered through the woods and exchange them for a modest chocolate treat. Make sure to dress for muddy paths. 50p per person – all proceeds go to the Woodland Trust.. 10am-midday.

Batchwood Easter Eggstravaganza 

Thumper, the Batchwood bunny has hidden lots of Easter egg clues in our woods… can you find them all to reach Thumpers secret stash of chocolate? There will also be a bouncy castle, circus skills and face painting! FREE, 11.00-2.00pm

Peppa Pig’s Adventure | Alban Arena

Peppa Pig and friends are back in the brand new live show Peppa Pig’s Adventure! Adult tickets £17, Under 16’s £15. Show starts at 10am, 1pm and 4pm.

SUNDAY 1ST

Crafts in the Colonnade | Verulamium Museum

Simple crafts inspired by the museum’s collections. 2-4pm, £1.50 per child (museum entry charges apply to all non-residents).

There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Fly | Sandpit Theatre

The People’s Theatre Company bring one of the world’s best loved nursery rhymes to life. This magical show has been written especially for grown ups to enjoy with their children with a feast of sing along songs, colourful animal characters and heart warming family fun. Adults £10, Under 18s £8. Show starts at 2pm.

WEDNESDAY 4TH

Hippity Hoppity Easter | Trestle School of Drama | Russet Drive

Join Trestle and jump in to Easter with this fun filled day of drama and games. Help us to explore the world of the Easter bunny and help him find his eggs with a sharing of our own stories at the end of the day. Ages 4-7, 10am – 30pm, £30 per child.

Easter Bunny Hunt | Highfield Park Trust | Hill End Lane

Follow a trail around a small area of the park in order to find a number of wonderfully painted animals, which in-turn leads you to the location of the mysterious blue Easter Bunny. No booking required, just pay £3 on the day. 10:30-2:30pm.

Paddington | Sandpit Theatre

After a deadly earthquake destroys his home in Peruvian rainforest, Paddington makes his way to England in search of a new home. Adult tickets £3, Children ticket’s £2 and include a free juice carton. Starts at 10.30am

Decorate Cookies & Face Painting | Burston Garden Centre | North Orbital Road

Pop along and have fun decorating your own tasty cookie! – £2.50 per cookie and includes everything you need to create a masterpiece! £5 per child for face painting. All money goes to charity CRY Cardiac Risk in the Young. 11am-3pm

 

THURSDAY 5TH

Mask Madness | Trestle School of Drama | Russet Drive

Come and play with our marvellous masks exploring the different characters and the skills you need to use them. Peak into our mask workshop to see how they’re made and create your very own mask story to share at the end of the day. Ages 8-16, 10am – 30pm, £30 per child.

Museum Explorers | Verulamium Museum

Borrow items from the explorer kit to help you investigate the museum. What will you discover as you venture into Verulamium Museum? FREE (museum entry charges apply to all non-residents) – All day.

Meet Queen Boudicca | Verulamium Museum

Come along and meet the amazing queen of the Iceni tribe who led a revolt against the Romans right here in Verulamium. 2pm and 3pm FREE (museum entry charges apply to all non-residents).

Alan in Wonderland | Sandpit Theatre

Children will revel in this magical and immersive show complete with larger than life props. Take part in the Mad Hatter’s tea party, become trolls under a bridge and help Alan save Alice! Adult ticket £6, Under 18’s £4. Show starts at 2pm.

Just So | Abbey Theatre

Based on the Just So stories by Rudyard Kipling, this show focuses on the creation of all the animals by the Eldest Magician, and the journey made by the inquisitive Elephant’s Child to stop the crab  playing with the tides and disrupting everyone’s lives. Ticket £11. Show at 7.30pm.

FRIDAY 6TH

The Case Of The Missing Easter Egg | Trestle School of Drama | Russet Drive

This Easter come and use your drama skills and storytelling expertise to help us solve the case of the missing Easter Egg! Join us as we use drama games and exercises to create a detective story with a chocolatey twist for a sharing at the end of the day. Ages 8-16, 10am – 30pm, £30 per child.

Family Fridays: Iron Age Houses | Verulamium Museum

Explore our collections with a drop-in craft and learning session.  Handle artefacts and make a souvenir to take home. All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 11am and 1pm, £2.50 (museum entry charges apply to all non-residents).

In 61AD, Boudicca led an uprising against the Romans in Colchester, London and Verulamium. Discover what life was like as a Roman Soldier at Verulamium during the Boudican revolt! 2:30pm and 3:30pm. FREE (museum entry charges apply to all non-residents).

St Albans South Signal Box | St Albans Train Station

Visit the largest railway signal box in the UK. Signalling demonstrations are available, and every visitor gets a traditional “Edmundson” card ticket as a souvenir of their visit! No need to book and it’s FREE.

Tots Tales April 2018 | Verulamium Museum

Head to the museum for a story, craft activity and a museum hunt inspired by Lost and Found by Oliver Jeffers.  Suitable for children aged 2 – 4 years, accompanied by an adult. Sessions are an hour long and run at 10.30am, 11.45am and 1.30pm. £3.00 (museum entry charges apply to all non-residents).

The Greatest Showman Sing Along | Alban Arena

Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for… sing along with The Greatest Showman! Tickets £7. Shows at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.

Story Teller Alexandra Jones, decorate a pot & plant a seed | Burston Garden Centre | North Orbital Road

‘Story Time With Alex’ has proved a great success for children up to the age of six. Alex re-enacts and brings to life popular stories in rhyme that most children are familiar with. There are two free sessions at 1.30pm and 2.15pm. Decorate a pot and plant a seed for £2.50.

THURSDAY 12TH

Family Discovery Morning | St Alban’s Cathedral

There will be lots of fun themed activities for children on this Easter Family Discovery Morning, including hot cross bun tasting and a chocolate fondue fountain. The perfect way to end the holidays! Suitable for children ages 3 – 11. All children must be supervised by an adult.

FRIDAY 13TH
