Tabure | Restaurant Review

Tabure is one of those restaurants in St Albans that I always hear great things about for having incredible Turkish Tapas. Did you know that the name Tabure rhymes with cabaret? Or like me have you been pronouncing it wrong?

Mr J and I went with our friends, who we hadn’t seen since their wedding day in December. Our hostess for the evening was Handan, her enthusiasm was infectious and her recommendations throughout the evening were spot on. You can check out the menu here.

The first decision of the night was what cocktail to order. After Handan’s recommendation I ordered the Ahududu which was made up of Vodka, Raspberry Syrup, Eldeflower and Lime juice. It was so good, the perfect recommendation!
The Tabure menu is comprised of dishes from meze and meat to vegetables and fish. There were so many incredible dishes that we really struggled to just pick a few. We started with the House Dips – smashed humus, grilled courgette tarator & the most delicious chargrilled aubergine babaganus.

The two vegetable dishes that we ordered were the Warm Baby Potato Salad and the Roasted Butternut Squash with red pepper & chilli rub, crispy shallots, almonds, tahini & yogurt dressing. The potato salad was incredibly fresh with mint and was the perfect accompliment to the meat dishes.

Before heading to Tabure, I asked on Instagram Stories which dish to order and the Beef Kofte was the outstanding winner and it definitely didn’t disappoint. It came with crispy bread and harissa, labne yogurt with mint & tomato sauce.

We also ordered the slow-cooked pulled Lamb shoulder which was so good that everyone tucked in before I could even take a photo. The chicken wings Sundried pepper paste, pictured above, were a crowd pleaser and tasted amazing.

I finished off my meal with the salted pistachio crème brulee which was infused with turkish delight and tasted so good! The boys declined a dessert but treated themsevles to an espresso martinis as their final treat for the night. I’m already looking forward to returning to Tabure – it was definitely worth the wait.
